June 3rd 2016 - Update on Project Mugen PRO.2

June 3rd 2016 - Update on Project Mugen PRO.2

There hasn't been a lot happening in the last six months outside of prepping the house for sale. We finished a lot of little projects around the house that had been left outstanding for a long time and even found a place we really really liked (with a 3 car garage!) but sadly on the day before our house was listed and we were going to make an offer to buy it, we found out that it was sold.

I know there's a CR-X in here somewhere
In the meantime, I've been plugging away at parts buying... I have been having some trouble fitting LHD EDM headlights with auto-adjust motors to my EF8. I decided to try and find some RHD EDM lights so I can swap the lenses from the LHD lights to the RHD backing so they will fit. I managed to find some RHD headlights for a reasonable price and even a local company to swap the lenses for me.

I also picked up all of the fluids necessary for a coolant, brake, power steering and transmission flush.

And after years of looking (at least since 2007) I found some genuine Mugen front bumper brackets! The funniest thing about it is that they came with the bumper mounts I also need. A need to give a HUGE shoutout to RouteJP for hooking me up!

Another auction I won was a Honda Access Momo steering wheel. I already have one, in decent shape too, but this one was unique because it came off of an EF6 CR-X in Japan and included the original Honda Access mounting hub. Over the years I've studied the hubs I've seen in pictures online and it always seemed to me that the Momo hubs for their regular wheels are longer/thicker than the Honda Access ones. Plus I won it for about $80USD and how I do love a bargain!

Picked up some odds and ends: some MR-5 spare bolts, a Mugen emblem (cracked but well-repaired), a rear interior panel, a Verno envelope for user manuals, and a JDM Honda license plate.

It took until the beginning of June before I was able to pull the CR-X off of the dollies and get her out for a run. She's running pretty well, except for the hole in the exhaust making a put-put noise as I drive down the street. Ironic that after 10 years of ownership, the exhaust decided to let go after I purchased the new set up.

Also had the opportunity to test-fit my new Mugen spoiler that arrived late last season.
