Dec 20th, 2013 - Interesting Story I'd Almost Forgotten

Dec 20th, 2013

I was cleaning out my email the other day and came across an email I'd almost forgotten.

Back in November 2008 I received a PM via JDM Universe from a guy named Nick Skinner.

Hello,

I am writing in regards to your CR-X. I work at microsoft gaming and I am sourcing a JDM RHD cr-x for an upcoming release. I am looking for a 1990-1991 cr-x that is close to stock. I have a couple questions.

1) Is it an Si-r model?

2) What modifications do you have? we are looking for something that resembles something close to stock, but minor mods can be made?

3) Also, where are you located? City is fine. I'm not trying to steal your car.

My contact email at microsoft is xxxxxxxxxxxx
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you,

Nick Skinner

Turn 10 Studios

Wait, whaaaa? I couldn't believe it. Turn 10 Studios is the same company that does the Forza Motorsports series for XBOX. I was thrilled and extremely excited that it was possible that my car might be photographed for an upcoming video game release. I emailed him back right away explaining about the exterior mods, lowered, rims, Mugen sides, which I offered to remove if necessary and that the interior was mostly stock with the exception of the shift knob and shift lever.

Andy,

Thank you for the reply. I have forwarded this email to our photographers one what we need for our project. They might not need a full shoot. They are going to shoot you an email sometime today. Thank you for your time.

Nick Skinner

But sadly over the next few days I checked my email and my junk folder every few hours for the next few weeks but no one ever contacted me about it further. I sent him a couple emails in the weeks after I didn't receive a response from the photographer, but I never heard back. So, my car was never photographed for what I can only assume was Forza Motorsport 3. That game was released about a year later in October 2009 and listed a Nick Skinner as a member of the "Content Coordination Subject Matter Experts".

Forza Motorsports 3 - What might have been?

I totally would have bought a copy of the it (and an XBOX 360) just so I could have played "my car" in a video game. That would have been so cool. Though it still makes me happy to know my CR-X was even considered.

If thing's had gone differently, this could have been made with pics of my CR-X.
